Bushranger Discovery Cycle Tour- 5 days
Our Central West Cycle Tour takes in the sights, sounds, and smells of the beautiful natural and rural landscape, and we literally stop and smell the roses when we can, ensuring that the tour is as immersive as it is enjoyable, fun, and memorable.
Learn about the Bushranger history of the Lachlan Valley Ben Hall, Frank Darkie Gardiner, Johnny Gilbert and others . Great stage coach robbery at Escort Rocks near Eugowra, considered to be one of the largest gold robberies in Australian history.
Tales about the bushranger Ben Hall and his gang, hold ups, raids, shoot outs and hideouts.
Meeting in Cowra, the cycle tour begins from Eugowra taking in the towns of Grenfell, Greenethorpe, Koorawatha, Cowra and Canowindra; the picturesque Central West Region is known as “the golden circle of food production”. The rich red duplex soils of the Lachlan Valley are responsible for growing grain, vegetables, wine, and meat, all of which you will be able to sample as part of your tour.
Our tour routes are carefully selected to ensure that 90% of the roads on which we tour are good gravel, minor bitumen low in traffic and suitable to most fitness levels, so that you can ride at a leisurely and safe pace.
For people who love war history, the region has a rich and fascinating history and together we’ll visit the Peace Bell and POW Camp and then of course the renowned Japanese Gardens, Age of Fishes and Museum and the Canowindra Historical Museum.
And all along the way you’ll meet the welcoming and friendly locals who have enthusiastically embraced this new cycling tour and are looking forward to providing you with country style hospitality.
